Mentoring Universally.  Our dream is to enable the entire planet to do intelligent mentoring, thereby improving productivity and living standards.

OUR “REASON FOR BEING”

Our goal is to help you get more out of mentoring.  We call it “Intelligent Mentoring”.  Whether you are a new mentor or an experienced mentor, we have material and information for you to deliver the best mentoring experience for your mentee. Visit the Blog/Forum and the Knowledge Store.  If you are a mentee, we have tips and information to help you get the most out of your mentor.  Visit the Blog/Forum.  If you are an organisation; especially one where technology is critical; we have a framework you can use to design, set up, then implement an intelligent mentoring program.  Check out IntelliMentoring, the Blog/Forum, and the Knowledge Store.

After fifteen years or more of providing materials for organisations to run successful IT mentoring programs, we have now written the book.

A PASSION FOR MENTORING

The word Mentor comes from Greek mythology and the story of Odysseus. When he was about to leave on his epic quest Odysseus assigned his best friend, Mentor, to look after his son as guardian, tutor and guide.

More than three thousand years later we still use mentors as wise and trusted counsellors and teachers, only today our daily battle gear is not breastplates, helmets and swords. In the world of business, it’s clothes, electronic devices and pens, and if you do put on a helmet it’s because you’re cycling to the battlefield – also known as The Office.

My passion at the Mentoring Institute of Australia is to help mentors and mentees do a better job in the intricate, complex, challenging but highly rewarding practice of mentoring.

After all, politics in the 21st Century AD is not much different to the 1st Century BC, and navigating the complexities of business and inter-personal relationships is difficult and at a much faster pace today than ever before. Mentoring young people to be more productive contributors to business results in long lasting benefits for all stakeholders.  Visit our Intellimentoring page.

MENTORING IS A LIFELONG DISCIPLINE

Because mentoring is a fluid, evolving practice we have provided two interactive pages.

There is a blog page, designed to act as a discussion thread and as a forum for people to ask questions, share insights, and add value to the discipline of mentoring. You’ll need to register first, though – this is to discourage spamming, trolls and general miscreants (we’re funny, that way).

And, there is a Knowledge Store where you will find articles, links, white papers and other “stuff” on mentoring. This is for anyone to tap into after registering, and use the material to add value to their mentoring skills. You can also send us articles that you believe will add value to mentoring.

Of course, we must have a Contact Us page. You can send us an email and we might even reply (kidding … we will reply).

TESTIMONIALS

This is the part where other people say nice things about us and, yes, of course we wouldn’t put up anything negative. But you can’t buy sincere feedback.

The FITT Mentoring program is structured around the fantastic Mentoring material provided to us by Chris, which has saved time and effort over many years. Chris is also, personally, a fantastic resource for us – providing his insights, supporting our training and always available for questions. The now simplified TSAS model is an even greater resource to our Mentors and Mentees. We look forward to using this for our National rollout.” – Megan Stokes, FITT (Females in Information Technology and Telecommunications).

While most of us have a general idea about what mentoring in our organisation should accomplish, very few are able to implement a successful program on the first try.

Chris’ step by step approach not only quickly gets you there, but it also provides you with the tools for measuring success and highlighting areas of improvement in your mentoring program.

Whether you are part of a large multinational, or a small business, IntelliMentoring for IT Professionals will help you deliver improved performance and have happier, more integrated staff. Both mentors and mentees will enjoy this journey.

Easily the most comprehensive guide for anyone who is looking to set up an effective mentoring program – IT or non-IT.” – Norman Garcia, Head of Business Consulting, APAC, Alcatel-Lucent.
